Communities In Schools of San Antonio was established in 1985 to address our city's high dropout rate. The founders' vision was to provide a positive environment for at-risk students, ensuring their success to educational opportunities, social services and support services. We are seeking a passionate, committed, and value oriented individual for the position of Clinical Case Worker. The Clinical Caseworker will be part of an team oriented staff and must possess professional level knowledge.
Required Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in a social work, counseling, clinical mental health, psychology or equivalent
- Advanced license LPC (non-intern), LMFT, or LCSW is required
- Four years of related experience in the field (including graduate internship hours)
- Experience with at-risk populations and cross-cultural environments
- Ability to set priorities and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to articulate program goals in a public setting
- A willingness to follow the philosophy of CIS and operate as a team player
- Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a fingerprint based background check
Preferred Education and Experience
Bilingual ability in Spanish and English highly preferred
Job Description
The Clinical Case Worker will coordinate the provision of counseling and social services in a public school setting, to students and their families facing obstacles to academic and personal success.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Intake & Assessment
- Complete intake and conduct initial assessment with referred students and their parent or guardian
- Complete individual assessments and treatment plan to address mental health or emotional needs of clients
- Communicate with appropriate CIS and school staff on a regular basis to seek input and report on student progress, case status and counseling needs
Service Provision
- Provide individual and group counseling to address mental health or emotional needs with the goal to improve client well-being
- Implement counseling strategies and intervention techniques appropriate to client needs
- Provide crisis intervention during critical situations
- Attain client cases from multiple school sites to meet grant requirement
- Develop an aftercare plan for students and families in coordination with the CIS staff
Collaborative Efforts
- Coordinate with CIS staff and school staff to provide referrals on behalf of clients for ongoing support and mental health needs and ensure new or ongoing family and basic needs are addressed
- Collaborate with appropriate CIS staff and school staff to obtain client referrals and discuss case status
- Provide training and education relevant to emotional and mental health
- Attend team meetings with assigned district or school personnel to review case status reports, discuss treatment plans, case consultation and address programmatic concerns
- Coordinate and oversee interns assigned per university requirements
- Provide intern orientation regarding CIS program policies and school-based service provision
Data Maintenance & Evaluation
- Complete paperwork required for grant compliance
- Maintain sign in sheets for services, confidential data and files in accordance with CIS policy and procedures and licensure requirements.
- Document services from sign in sheets in the CIS approved data entry system
- Implement, manage and report on grants
- Monitor and document student progress toward goals
- Evaluate program effectiveness
Administrative & Professional Development
- Manage time card
- Attend all meetings and trainings as required
- Ensure the completion of required programmatic reports
- Plan appropriate expenditures and maintain budgets
- Maintain required licensure by participating in relevant professional development activities

Travel: Travel is required to/between schools in Bexar County and some rural communities (approx 1 day/week) during the business day with mileage reimbursement for non-commuting travel
